About the Cabin

Located near Lydia, VA, on the PATC-owned Vining Tract, this unique cabin is named for the wineberry vines that grow nearby. An octagonal deck and picnic table, a covered porch with a cooking grill, an abundance of natural light, and a toasty wood stove set this cabin apart. Sleeping arrangements include a double-width bunk, 2 single bunks, and loft space for 4 mattresses. Access the cabin by a 0.5 mile hike-in from the gate. Hikers can explore the Vining Tract or head to SNP.

Note: Due to its proximity to Conley Cabin, privacy should not be expected. The shed adjacent to the cabin houses trail and tract maintenance tools. Accordingly, volunteers may need to access the shed when guests are at the cabin.

The side view of Wineberry cabin shows a wooden porch and wooden seating area with a table and benches..

ACCESS NOTE: The last 0.8 miles to cabin parking along Goose Pond Road can become heavily eroded at times, and high clearance vehicles are recommended. Although this gravel road is state-maintained, it can become impassible after heavy rains or in the event of snow. No alternate access is available.
