About the Cabin

This single-room, public cabin is located in the South District of Shenandoah National Park. Constructed in 1936 by artisans and members of the CCC, Doyle's River boasts views of Cedar Mountain and Via Gap. Access the cabin by a half-mile hike-in, or a 4.3 mile hike-in when Skyline Drive is closed. If the Drive is closed, the lengthier hike-in should only be braved by experienced backpackers. At the cabin, you will find two sets of bunks, two sets of double-width bunks, a wood stove, and a dining space. Overlook the beautiful views from the covered porch, where there is an outdoor fireplace and picnic table. This cabin offers an array of hiking opportunities including the AT, Doyles River Trail, and Jones Run Trail. Call SNP at 540/999-3500 (option 1, option 1) for Skyline Drive closure information and be prepared to pay the Park entrance fee.
