About the Cabin

This two-room, public cabin is located on the east side of the Buchanan State Forest, 23 miles NW of Hancock, MD. Donated to the PATC in memory of Charles Dawson, Dawson Cabin boasts a twelve-foot picture window, overlooking a view of Green Ridge to the south and Sideling Hill to the southeast. Access the cabin by a 0.2 mile hike-in from the small gravel parking area. There, you will find a cozy living and dining area, adjacent to a bunk room with bunk space for 6 to 7 guests. Hikers can explore state forest roads and trails and climb to the ridgeline of Big Mountain. Note that there is no reliable water source at the cabin.

The side view of the Dawson Cabin, features two green bushes.
