Supervisor of Outreach

I have hiked all my life but since joining a local DC hiking club 14 years ago it has become a consuming passion that has brought me great joy through exercise, time spent outdoors and friendship with fellow hikers. I’ve hiked all over the world and most often on local PATC trails. I’d like to do what I can to help the PATC spread that joy of outdoors and hiking and to protect the resources that allow others that enjoyment.

Relevant Experience

I’m a lifetime member of PATC, heavily involved with volunteer activities in the last six years. As part of the Hikes Committee, I helped revamp the PATC Hike Leader Training and since 2021 have been an instructor for Hike Leader Training 2-4 times a year. I am an active PATC Hike Leader and have done trail work with the Cadillac Crew and Hoodlums. I’m currently filling the role of Outreach Supervisor. I’m section hiking the AT with just over 60% complete. I am a past president of the local DC hiking club, The Wanderbirds. For over 15 years I have had my own consulting business providing a variety of services such as strategy, facilitation, executive coaching and mediation. Surviving in that business means a lot of outreach to potential clients, partners and subject matter experts. Prior to doing my own business I worked at a series of start-up telecommunications companies and was a group president for an Alaska Native Corporation.  I am a retired Coast Guard Officer, serving mostly in command and control/information technology assignments, including the White House Communications Agency. In other volunteer work I have been a Boy Scout leader for over 25 years and currently work in a special purpose scout unit under Fairfax County Juvenile Justice.
