Description: A week-long trip to the High County of Colorado.
As those who have done Alpine or Nordic skiing out West know, elevation is everything. Summit County, Colorado has become a mecca for both types of skiing since the county's base elevation is around 9,000 feet. The county is blessed with both high peaks for downhill skiing and broad areas of rolling countryside and backcountry for cross-country enthusiasts. There are also at least three Nordic ski touring centers nearby. Both types of skiing and also snowshoeing available. The county is less than a two-hour drive from Denver on I-70. Lodging at the Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillon, CO is in rooms with two double or queen beds and includes a daily continental breakfast. Large hot tub and sauna available. Small refrigerator in each room. Plenty of restaurants in nearby towns for evening meals. Participants to arrange their own ground transportation in CO. Most expected to share vehicles.
This excursion trip is open only to PATC members who sign up to be part of the Ski Touring Section.
The basic trip cost is $565, which covers seven nights of lodging and breakfast. Skiers pay for air flights to/from Denver, ground transportation in CO, outside meals, ski center fees, and all miscellaneous costs. Contact the trip leader for additional details.
