Trail Patrol Resources

Here are some links and resources for members:

  • A list of all the districts and trails that PATC is responsible for can be found here.
  • Many parks have maps available at their visitors center for general use in navigating the trails in the park. Shenandoah National Park produces useful maps of specific areas of the park. These maps have enough information to assist people hiking on the trails, but are not as detailed as the PATC maps. Printing out a couple copies of a section and taking them on patrol could prove useful to hand to a map-less hiker on the trail. Sections are added all the time and contain the most common hiking destinations in the park.
  • When on patrol, it is a good idea to post a sign in your car's window to tell officials or hikers in need of assistance, that someone with knowledge and training is in the area. Here is a sign to place in your car when on patrol.
