We Hope you were able to join us for this amazing event. Planning is already well underway for the 2017 Biennial, to be hosted by the Maine Appalachian Trail Club and the Maine Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

The Hiker's Guide to Civil War Trails in the Mid-Atlantic Region covers many of the best war-related sites in the our region. It includes 27 day hikes and includes topographic maps for each route, travel directions, turn-by-turn trail directions, and information about historical events and how they fit into the broader context of the time.

The Guidebook of 70 Unique Hikes is our complete guide to every hike offered at the 2015 biennial. Printed on waterproof paper and sold in a 3-ring binder so individual hikes can be removed for a day of hiking. Each hike features a map, elevation profile, GPS coordinates, turn-by-turn directions, photographs and a bit of history.

The 2015 Edition of Hikes in the Washington Region Part B

The 2015 Fifth Edition, the first since 2007, is part of a trilogy on Washington, D.C. area hiking. Part B offers a variety of hiking experiences in Northern Virginia; it describes more routes, with more options for longer and shorter variations than previous editions, and extends beyond the immediate Capital Beltway to the Shenandoah River and close to Harpers Ferry. GPS trailhead coordinates (NAD83) have also been added.Order now!

In 1927, PATC was organized to build the Appalachian Trail in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. It wasn't long after this effort began that PATC recognized the need for authoritative guides and accurate maps for the trail routes.

The first maps and guides concentrated on the Appalachian Trail, but were soon expanded to include side trails and other regions. This included many routes in what was soon to become Shenandoah National Park. Since that time, PATC maps and guides have become well known as the most authoritative sources for backcountry information in the region. Each map and guide builds on a tradition of excellence that started as the first steps were taken to establish the Appalachian Trail. As an added benefit, you'll also find club publications that are not typically carried by commercial outdoor shops and public parks. They are either considered too specialized in nature, or run against established policy in regional parks. All are available for sale in our store.

While PATC maps and guides are highlighted, there are actually over 120 different items available for sale in our store, including books published from other sources. Our books, guides, and maps from other sources have been carefully reviewed and approved by consensus as the best source of information available in each respective area of coverage. Please note though that trails do sometimes get rerouted. To see recent PATC book and map updates, click here.

The proceeds from every sale in this store are completely rolled back into our ongoing volunteer efforts to maintain trails, shelters, and cabins, as well as purchase land for the protection of trailheads and trail viewsheds. Unlike "for-profit" book sellers that pocket their profits, every purchase you make in this store supports your regional hiking and backpacking opportunties. Your dollars work twice as hard when you purchase through PATC.

If you would prefer to come by our store in person, we are open Monday - Friday from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
Our address is 118 Park Street SE, Vienna, VA 22180.
