PATC recognizes outstanding achievement made on behalf of the club by both members and non-members. Awards are presented during our annual meeting held in November. The following are awards presented by the club. Our committees, crews, chapters and sections may also present awards to their team members.
Our Volunteer Awards are listed below. You may view all Past Award Recipients in Our Library.
MYRON AVERY AWARD: The highest honor presented by the club, awarded to a single individual for outstanding volunteer activity over the past year. The activity can be in any area of the club and must be of a clearly extraordinary nature. The nominee must be a PATC member and be nominated by a PATC member. The Executive Committee will choose the candidate from the nominees and the nominee can not be a current member of the PATC executive committee. The awardee will have their name engraved on a bronze nameplate with the year of the award and the nameplate will be attached to a plaque located at PATC headquarters. The recipient will also receive an appropriate memento with their name and the name of the award emblazoned on the item. The award can only be awarded to an individual once.
HONORARY LIFE MEMBER: This award is presented to members who have contributed to the club over a long period of time. Nominees are typically long-time members who have contributed to many areas of the club and have shown outstanding performance over many years. Honorary Life Members will be treated as a Life Member of the club and no further dues payment will be required of that individual. The awardees will also receive a plaque identifying the award. Honorary Life members may be nominated by any member of the club and must be approved by the PATC council.
THE HAWKSBILL AWARD: This award is presented by each crew, district, committee, chapter, section, Trail Patrol, and SMRG to a PATC member who has shown outstanding volunteer performance over the last year. The individuals receiving this award will be selected by their respective crew leader, district manager, committee chair and chapter/section/Trail Patrol president. The award cannot be given to the current leader within that area of the club or to an elected officer within the Club. The awardees will receive a certificate of recognition of this award and a patch.
PATC APPRECIATION AWARD: Primarily for non-members, this award is given to those individuals or groups who have made some special contribution to the club and its objectives. Recipients could include government officials (federal, state, local) who have assisted the club in its activities, individuals who have donated land or facilities to the club, retired PATC employees, or anyone else who has helped the club in a significant way. The individual or group must be nominated by a PATC member or employee and approved by PATC council. The awardees will receive a plaque recognizing the award with the name of the person or group and the name of the award.
PATC YOUTH AWARD: Presented to a person or group under the age of 19 who has contributed in some significant way to advance the club and its programs and trail system. Must be nominated by a PATC member or employee and be approved by the PATC council. The individual will receive a plaque with the name of the individual or group and the name of the award. May be awarded to members or non-members.
PATC SERVICE AWARD: Presented to members with outstanding volunteer service over the past year. The nominee will be selected by the crew leader, district manager, committee chairman, or president of the chapter/section. There is no limit on how many service awards are presented and the criteria are left up to the particular leader to determine what outstanding volunteer service entails. The leader may not select him/her self for this award but may be selected by another individual who considers that person an outstanding volunteer. The awardees will receive a certificate with their name and the award title and a rocker bar with the name of the award.
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP: Presented to a non-member for a fixed amount of time up to a life membership for a significant contribution to the club. The nominee will have full membership privileges for that amount of time designated in the award. The awardee will receive a plaque with their name and the name of the award. The nominee will be nominated by a PATC member or employee and be approved by PATC council.
