FEATURED HIKES

Hikes of the Month

One of the Potomac Appalachian's most popular features was the 'Hike of the Month' which appeared each month from 2010 to 2015.

This is a series of hikes ranging from a casual dayhike of 2.5 miles to a strenuous multi-day backpack trip of 10+ miles....all in the mid-Atlantic region served by PATC.

See an index & detail to each of our Featured 'Hike of the Month' articles from the monthly Potomac Appalachian magazine.
Each includes the PATC Map for the trail area to help you navigate more safely.

90th Anniversary Hikes

Between 1927 and today, PATC’s founders and their successors built a 240-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, created the Tuscarora Trail, made dozens of cabins and shelters available to hikers, and took on maintenance responsibility for over 1000 miles of paths in the club’s 4-state service area. The hikes described in this series pass landmarks in PATC’s history and celebrate nine decades of remarkable evolution in our national trail network. Larry Broadwell and William Needham co-wrote the series, and Brian Goudreau provided the maps.
