Description: 
The Easy Hikers will hike 4.5 miles around Arlington Cemetery, starting at the Visitor Center, seeing the statue commemorating soldiers who served in the Spanish American War (known as "The Hiker"), continuing past Arlington House (home of Robert E. Lee), the Kennedy family grave site, the grave of Union General Philip Sheridan, graves of section 27, which includes freedmen and U.S. Colored Troops serving with the Union, the first Union soldiers buried at Arlington, and the grave of Oliver Wendell Homes., People who wish to lengthen the hike can cross Memorial Bridge to go to the Lincoln Memorial, which is 1 mile away. Meet at the Visitor Center, which is near Arlington Cemetery Metro Station. Bring lunch, water, hats, a trekking pole (recommended), and sunscreen. Transit: Take Blue line to Arlington Cemetery station. Driving Directions: Paid parking is available in a garage. When you reach the traffic circle on the Virginia side of Memorial Bridge, bear right in the left hand lane around the traffic circle to Memorial Avenue. Arlington House will be visible. Hike is cancelled if Arlington public schools are closed or opening late.
