Midweek Hike

Event Category: Hike

Start Date: Wednesday, 5/15/2019

Start Time: 8:45 AM

Contact: Richard Stromberg

Email: risy@embarqmail.com

Description:

We will hike out and back on the Dickey Ridge Trail from the North Entrance to Shenandoah National Park.  Hike for 1½ hours and turn around and go back.  Then proceed to the Stromberg home (directions below) for a potluck luncheon to celebrate all the Midweek Hikers turning ninety.  Bring a dish to serve eight people.
Leave Fair Oaks and Centerville at 8:10. Meet at the trailhead at 8:59am.  The hike leaders will meet you at the trailhead.
Carpools will leave at 8:10am from the parking lot at Fair Oaks Mall (I-66 exit 57B) near the Cheesecake Factory and the Centreville Park-and-Ride lot (I-66 exit 52). If you would like to carpool from these locations, just show about ~15 minutes prior to the meeting time. Carpools should wait until the departure time before leaving.  If you can’t make the hike, come to the potluck at noon.
Some people have established carpools already that meet at these locations and occasionally they have room for others. In the case where they do not have room for additional people, the other folks there can form their own carpools. In the case where there is no room for one individual, that person would need to drive themselves.
Please do not send messages to this email list (it goes to ~400 people) coordinating carpool rides, just follow the above procedure.
