MIDWEEK HIKE

Event Category: Hike

Start Date: Wednesday, 5/1/2019

Start Time: 8:45 AM

Contact: Richard Stromberg

Email: risy@embarqmail.com

Description: The Annual Midweek Hikers Trillium Hike 5/1/2019

We will hike about 9.8 miles with 2,000 feet elevation.  The hike will go out and back on the AT from Linden through the Trillium area of G.R. Thompson Wildlife Management Area doing a little loop at the north end on the Trico County Trail and Trillium Parking Lot (Old Parking Lot #6) Fire Road.  Hike map and profile are at https://risy.smugmug.com/Hikes/2016-Hikes/Thompson-WMA-2016-05-04/i-B7wdNgP.

Permits are required in Wildlife Management Areas by Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries except for hiking on the AT.  Senior Virginia residents can get cheap, lifetime fishing or hunting permits or daily permits can be obtained on the Game and Inland Fisheries website.  The loop will leave the AT, so you can bring a permit or risk it (I don’t know that anyone has ever been checked) or stay on the AT.

Leave Fair Oaks and Centerville at 8. Meet at the trailhead at 8:45am.  The hike leaders will go to the trailhead.
