Description:

The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club will hold its annual membership meeting and awards banquet on Wednesday, November 20 at Meadowlark Gardens. Come join your fellow members at this great event.

The evening will include the presentation of awards to many of the club’s volunteers. Our highest recognition, the Myron Avery Award, goes the member whose substantial achievement in the past year most exemplifies the club’s spirit of volunteerism.

Another highlight of the evening will be a presentation by Dr. Jeffrey Marion, our guest speaker. Jeff is a recreational ecologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech. His primary research interest is the impact of visitors, trails and campgrounds on protected natural areas and wildlife. At the annual meeting, Marion will discuss his research on the impact of increased camping on the Appalachian Trail. He will discuss his proposals to reduce the impact and the role of membership organizations like PATC in addressing the problem.

Please consider being part of this evening of companionship, recognition, and interesting discussion.  - click here to register. This event sold out last year, so register early!

You can also mail your payment and names of attendees to PATC, 118 Park Street, SE, Vienna, VA 22180.
