Description: Due to the Federal Government shutdown the Aquatic Gardens are closed so the following hike is substituted:

Anacostia Riverfront, DC
(Navy Yard--Ballpark Metro Station)
Meet at the New Jersey Avenue exit of the Navy Yard--Ballpark Metro station on the Green Line.  We will hike on the Anacostia Riverfront Trail, take a brief tour of Historic Congressional Cemetery, then continue to the terminus of the free H street Streetcar which we will ride to Union Station. A large selection of restaurants is available there for lunch, as well as access to the Metro Red Line for your return home.  Hike of about 4 miles will be on pavement except for some possible brief segments in the cemetery.  Bring water.  Restroom available in the Starbucks across from the meeting point (allow time), and at Union Station.  INFO:  Jennifer Newton, JenniferNewton700@gmail.com or 202/543-3039 (mobile).
