Summer Internship


Calling all outdoor enthusiasts! Are you looking for a worthwhile use of your time this summer? Consider applying for an internship with us! In this role, you will support staff and board members while learning about trail management, cabin preservation, outreach, and more. 

 

Responsibilities:
• Assist staff with day-to-day program management tasks
• Help craft social media strategy and postings
• Assemble trail maintainer guides
• Organize membership mailings
• Troubleshoot technology problems
• Assist with special projects

Desired Qualifications:
• Interest in connecting people to the outdoors
• Software background (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Experience with social media
• Data entry experience (use of CRM a plus!)
• Organized with excellent attention to detail
• Willingness to learn
• College students encouraged to apply for course credit

Compensation:
• Intern stipend of $1,000/month available

Caretaker for Blackburn Trail Center -- Immediate Opening

PATC’s Blackburn Trail Center has an immediate need for a caretaker. The beautiful facility is a premier AT stop for through hikers as well as those out on a day hike.

Blackburn is important to the work of the club hosting work crews, training, and other volunteer activities. The caretaker maintains the trail center, the hikers’ cabin, and the campground. The caretaker is the host to weary hikers and should know about the Appalachian Trail.

Getting along with a variety of people is a must! The caretaker lives on site in an apartment with a queen bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. The season is April through October but can be extended. One person can be the caretaker, or a couple can do it.
