Clearing Trails in War Time
World War II was a time of gas rationing and limited manpower, which slowed down but did not stop PATC's trail clearning and maintenance activities. During the years 1941 through 1946, "essential personnel" who ran the U.S. war effort from Washington, D.C. redoubled their efforts in clearing trails in the Appalachians. Former PATC Archvists Dave Bates draws information from past PATC members and the club archives to bring the club's history to light during this difficult time in our country's history.
