The Tuscarora Trail: A Guide to the North Half in MD and PA
(4th edition, 2011) PATC's premiere guidebook to the Tuscarora Trail, a 248-mile route that parallels the Appalachian Trail in northern Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. This revision is the companion guide to the Tuscarora Trail South Half. It covers the trail from Darlington Shelter near Carlisle, Pennsylvania to Hancock, Maryland, and reflects the numerous trail relocations and shelter constructions that have taken place over the past decade. For the first time, information on the flora, fauna and geology associated with this part of the trail is described. The guide also includes information on road accesses, parking, water sources and services adjacent to the trail. Use of this guide is essential for anyone contemplating hiking or backbacking this section of the Tuscarora Trail. Due to extensive trail location changes, this 2011 revised guide is the only reliable source for hiking the Tuscarora North Half trails. Previous editions of this guide should not be used.
