Fundraiser for Blackburn Trail Center

PATC purchased the Blackburn Trail Center, adjacent to the Appalachian Trail in Loudoun County, Virginia, in 1979. The Club envisioned Blackburn housing trail crews and hosting hands-on workshops, club meetings, and activities that bolster membership, skills, and loyalty.
To date, more than 500 Club meetings, workshops and events have been held here: from the annual Cabin Committee and Lands meetings, to rock wall-building training, to serving as the yearly base of operations for the Mid-Atlantic Trail Crew.
The cabin has been a touchstone for land acquisition activities, expanding from 20 to more than 150 acres of permanently protected land.
Ten thousand AT through-hikers have spent time on the famous wrap-around, screened porch at the ideally situated Center, along with many thousands of day-hikers, weekend and section hikers, and Scout troops. Renters occupy the Center every weekend from November to April. Families bring kids to introduce them to the Trail. Weddings have been held on the lawn.

Rental dollars support upkeep and maintenance, annual road rehabilitation, and electricity and propane bills. Looking forward, we urgently need to upgrade Blackburn’s sanitary facilities to 21st century standards to meet growing demands. PATC has developed plans for a modern septic system to lessen impact on the facilities and further protect the watershed. We hope you will support this effort by making a tax-deductible gift toward this project. Your contribution of $100, $50, or the amount of your choice will help get this project rolling this summer.
