PATC Receives a Painting and Some History: The club has received a painting by Garnet W. Jex, Along Jeremys Run, from the estate of Nancy Louise Perry. Read more about the history of this painting.
Long time Volunteers Pass On: The PATC community was saddened by the recent deaths of Jeanne Henkel, Dennis Staiger, and Charles Erik ‘Rik’ Miller. Read more about these outstanding people and the contributions they made to our club and the community.
Opportunity during the Weekend of September 23-24: There is a last minute opportunity to do
important trail work with professional trail maintainers. An ATC
crew’s plans changed, and it will be working on the AT relocation
at Loudoun Heights near Harpers Ferry on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
(September 22, 23, and 24). The crew will build a sustainable trail
in difficult, steep terrain. This is a three day work trip with the
crew based at the Blackburn Trail Center, but they are pleased to
have anyone interested join them for a day or more. For more

Wolf Trap camp out: Wolf Trap has started planning for the seventh camp out for 5th & 6th graders 8-9 October.
This program, which is supported by the PATC, has been named Volunteer
Fairfax Volunteer program for 2017 and has been listed in the

Letter from a Hiker: We received a letter from a section hiker who enjoyed the PATC's section of the AT. Read about the impact of our trail work.
PATC Trail Overseer Honored as "Unsung Virginian" Dorse
Counts was honored as the Unsung Virginian of the year by the
Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Cooperatives in
March. Dorse is the overseer for the Federal Line trail in
the Spotsylvania National Military Park and leads a crew that works throughout the park. See: article in Cooperative Living magazine [pdf]
90th Anniversary Hikes: Larry
Broadwell and William Needham have produced a series hikes that
celebrate the history of the PATC. Brian Goudreau assisted with the
maps. The hikes have been published in the Potomac Appalachian and are on this site.
New PATC Book: These
Hills Were Home: A Walking History Guide to the Blue Ridge Mountains of
Northern Greene and Western Madison County, Virginia is now available.
