Jones Mt Cabin Renovation Causes Trail Closures
The National Park Service will renovate the historic Jones Mountain Cabin, one of the more popular in the PATC's rental system. The renovation will require that the cabin be closed to rentals. Additionally, trails in the area, including one route to the popular Bear Church Rock, will be closed during the repair work.
The Trails: The details of the trails that will be closed and when are on the Shenandoah National Park website. (See SNP map for the best view of the closed trails.) Probably the most important closure to know about is the Graves Mill trailhead parking on Route 662.
*Update: From 10/29 until 11/2, completion of restoration efforts will require the closure of Jones Mountain Cabin Trail, McDaniel Hollow Trail, as well as certain sections of Graves Mill Trail and Staunton River Trail. The trailhead parking lot at Grave Mill remains closed. Refer to the links above for specifics.
The Cabin: The current plan is for the Jones Mountain Cabin to be closed to renters from August 16 to November 3, 2018. (The recent Corbin Cabin renovation took longer than expected, so don't rely too firmly on the November 3 date.)
