Position I am running for: Secretary

Relationship to PATC: I am a Life Member of PATC. I have worked at the sales and information desk and the cabin desk since the 1990s. Since the early 2000s, I have served as the cabin desk coordinator.  I have served as Supervisor of Membership from 2015 to 2018. I was elected Secretary in 2018. This would be my second term.

Brief Biography: I am a life-long resident of Virginia, having graduated from Washington-Lee HS in Arlington. I have lived in Falls Church for the last 35 years. I am a graduate of the College of William & Mary and received my JD from the University of Miami. In my professional life, I am an attorney and the Chief Administrative Officer for the US International Trade Commission. Over the course of my career I have also served as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

As a volunteer, I have served for over 20 years in a number of leadership positions for the Fairfax County Athletic Council, where I am currently Chairman. I have also served on the Lee Graham Community Pool Board of Directors since 1990, including ten years as President. In 2016 I was awarded the Lord Fairfax Award for community service by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.  I have also served on the federal Small Agency Council for over 20 years. Including multiple terms as Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

Qualifications for the Position: I am running for the position of Secretary because I understand the importance of timely and accurate records and the need to document PATC proceedings.  I have served as the Supervisor of Membership from 2015 to 2018. During my first term, I co-chaired the Strategic Planning Committee. I have been Secretary since 2018.
Interest in the Position: As an attorney and Chief Administrative Officer in the federal government, I understand the requirements of the position. I want to contribute to PATC and this is something I can do to help PATC manage its affairs and ensure strong internal controls and sound management.

Skills/Experience: I don’t have experience on trail work and cabin maintenance, but I do have experience being Secretary! I think this job matches my abilities well.
