Employee Group Teams with National Park
Service and PATC for Successful Work Day
Anderson workers with NPS Ranger Trudy Roth (kneeling, center)
On September 23, a group of 16
employees from Andersen Windows and Doors cleared several miles of
trails around Turkey Run Park. The volunteers cut vegetation and
pulled blowdowns off the trail. The PATC overseer for the area, John
Schell, organized the work teams and gave the safety briefing. A
National Park Service ranger welcomed the group and provided tools.
Two other PATC overseers participated.
The Potomac Heritage Trail between Roosevelt Island and the
American Legion Bridge is very popular. Just while the work group was
getting organized, two large hiking groups met and started down the
trail. The collaboration among the Andersen employees, the PATC, and
the National Park Service produced a significant benefit for users of
that trail. This event is just one example of many fruitful
collaborations the PATC is involved in. The club looks forward to
many more in the future.
