Anyone, anywhere, can get involved and contribute to PATC’s volunteer efforts.

For the last couple of years, Jim Corwith has been maintaining the PATC Events Calendar. On an almost daily basis and for nearly every event submission, Jim tweaks the postings so they look uniform, corrects typos, makes sure the event data is complete, and approves the postings.

Jim hasn't been on any PATC work trips or set foot on any of the trails we maintain. His visit to the Old Rag Cabin construction site (see photo) is the closest Jim has come to staying in a PATC cabin since he supports the club from 700 miles away, in a far western suburb of Chicago.

Having moved frequently in his youth, Jim was a Boy Scout for only a brief period, but as a parent, he was a leader for numerous Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts where he led several backcountry trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area.

During his tenure as Scoutmaster, Jim's troop produced an above-average number of Eagle Scouts, three of them his own sons. One son also served as Scoutmaster and raised an Eagle Scout of his own.

Another son, John, supports PATC in numerous ways, one of which was talking his Dad into the job of maintaining the club calendar.

There are many ways to contribute to PATC’s success. What is yours? You may find your way just as Jim has. You can help with the newsletter, at our Vienna HQ, on our trails and lands, on shelter and cabin construction and maintenance, and even some unique efforts such as the one Jim has championed.

PATC thanks Jim Corwith for his excellent work on our Events calendar.
